1 2023 WIPO India ranks sixth in the world in global patent filings
For the first time, India has ranked 6th in the world in terms of global patent filings in 2023. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ‘s annual World Intellectual Property Indicators Report 2024 released on 7 November 2024 , the increase in global patent filings in 2023 was mainly due to a strong, annual growth rate of 15.7% in patent filings in India. According to the report, more than 3.5 million patents were filed worldwide in 2023. According to the WIPO report, the number of patents filed in India in 2023 was 64,480 . The growth rate in patent filings was 15.7% compared to 2022. Patent filings in India have recorded double-digit growth rates for the 5th consecutive year. For the first time, India has been ranked among the top 10 countries in the world for three main intellectual property (IP) rights: patents, industrial design applications and trademark applications. Patent and industrial design applications more than doubled between 2018 and 2023, and trademark applications grew by 60%. Among the top 20 origin countries, India recorded the fastest growth in patent applications in 2023. India is the only country in the world’s top 20 to have recorded an increase in filings every year over the last decade. According to the World Intellectual Property Indicators Report 2024, over 3.5 million patents were filed worldwide in 2023. This was the fourth consecutive year that global patent filings have seen positive growth. In 2023, the highest number of patent filings were in China (16.4 million) , followed by India ( 1.64 million). the United States (518,364), Japan (414,413) , South Korea (287,954), Germany (133,053) and India (64,480).

The 29th annual UN Climate Change Conference will begin in Baku , Azerbaijan . The two-week event, being presented as a financial summit, will look at ensuring that its new economic goals are achieved in countries most vulnerable to climate change. Delegates from more than 200 countries, including India, will participate in it and discuss together on taking forward the Paris Agreement to limit the global temperature rise. The conference will also discuss strengthening the capacity to deal with climate change issues and mobilize support for developing countries.

Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal launched the ‘ EV as a Service ‘ programme of Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited ( EESL), at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium . The programme is a significant step towards the adoption of electric cars in Central and State Government Ministries/Departments, CPSEs and Institutions . CESL’s ‘EV as a Service’ programme caters to the growing demand for EVs in the Government sector. It has an ambitious target to deploy 5,000 e-cars in Government offices in the next two years.
4 Vladimir Putin signed a treaty of comprehensive strategic partnership with North Korea
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a treaty of comprehensive strategic partnership with North Korea . The treaty was originally signed by the leaders of the two countries on June 19 in Pyongyang. The lower house ratified the treaty on October 24. The upper house of the Russian Parliament approved the bill on November 6. According to the preamble of the treaty, this treaty is to establish regional and global peace, security and stability in accordance with the interests of both countries. The treaty states that Russia and North Korea respect sovereignty, territorial integrity, commitment to non-interference in internal affairs, equality and other principles of international policy and support friendly and cooperative relations with other countries.

In a report released by Brand Finance, Dubai’s global reputation has been ranked first in the world.
6 All members of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission resigned
All members of Bangladesh ‘s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) have resigned from their posts . The move came after a report revealed grim facts about the rise in mob violence. NHRC chairman Kamal Uddin Ahmed , and members Md. Salim Reza, Aminul Islam, Kongjari Chowdhury, Biswajit Chanda, and Tania Huq submitted their resignations to the President, as reported by BDNews24.com. The NHRC’s resignation came just days after the release of a report that revealed a sharp rise in mob violence and crimes in the month of October. The report also mentioned incidents of crimes such as assault, rape, and political persecution, highlighting serious concerns about human rights and security in Bangladesh.
7 Mohammad Nabi announced his retirement from ODIs

Veteran actor Delhi Ganesh , who served Tamil cinema for a long time as an actor , has passed away. His association with theater during his days in Delhi gave him a strong foundation in acting. Three years after entering the film world, he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for the role of rickshaw puller Muniyandi in the film Pasi in 1979. He worked in about 400 films . Before entering the film world as an actor, Delhi Ganesh worked in the Air Force . He served in the Indian Air Force for about 10 years from 1964 to 1974.
